A new grave containing dozens of civilian Ukrainians was discovered in Buzova on Saturday. This village was liberated from Russian occupation for several weeks, a local official stated.

Taras Didych (head of the Dmytrivka village that includes Buzova as well as several other nearby villages) said that bodies were discovered in a ditch close to a petrol station. It is not yet known how many bodies were found.

Didych stated that “Now, we’re returning to life” but that during occupation, there were ‘hotspots, and many civilians lost their lives.”

In the initial weeks of Moscow’s invasion of Kyiv, Russian forces engaged in an offensive against Kyiv. Several communities around the capital, such as Makariv and Bucha, Irpin, were under constant fire.

Early April saw reports from Ukraine that there were casualties in and around Buzova. There were about 30 bodies at the time.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Ukraine’s president, stated that the threat to Kyiv has receded but that Ukraine was ready for a hard battle against the Russian forces occupying the east. Ukrainian officials have urged people living in the country’s east to flee.
